e2 Young Engineers

Who?

e2 Young Engineers (Young Engineers) is an internationally renowned organisation that has been developing STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) programmes for children of all ages. Created in Israel, Young Engineers is taught in over 13 countries around the world and has thousands of happy students that are developing new and relevant skills that will not only help them today, but also in the future.

We are proud to be part of the Young Engineers network here in New Zealand. We are based in Hamilton and Sout Auckland have certified tutors who are able to teach in both English and Te Reo Māori.

What?

Young Engineers focuses on children learning new knowledge and having fun while they learn. Taught in a 'classroom environment', each lesson is approximately 60-75 minutes. Our tutor will give a 10-15 minute lesson that relates to a topic (e.g. speed increasing transmission). Following the lesson, children will be able to build a motorised Lego model that relates to the topic. Once they've completed the model, they can be as innovative as they like to build on the model to make it more interesting and exciting! In the last 10-15 minutes of class, the tutor will re-cap with the children before packing up the toolkits.

Young Engineers is a safe and fun activity for children of all ages to participate in. Targeted for Year 2-8 students, the programme can also be taught to older children who are keen on building Lego!

When?

We have four options for children to be involved in Young Engineers:

Classes will run for 75 mins and will generally start between 3.30pm - 5.30pm (depending on times that schools finish).

We are currently exploring other sites/venues - so if you have a child/children that would like to come, but you're not close by to any of the locations above, please email us - you never know what may come of it! (ariana@youngengineers.nz).

The In School Programme is taught like a normal classroom lesson during school hours. The In School Programme gives schools and students the advantage of having an interactive and engaging STEM subject lessons without all of the headaches of buying extra resources or finding a teacher!

We have taught Young Engineers in many schools throughout Waikato region including Nawton Primary, Rhode Street Primary, Toku Mapihi Maurea, Hautapu School, Peachgrove Intermediate, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Bernard Ferguson, Te Wharekura o Rakaumanga in Huntly and many others. We have also been fortunate to teach in Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Waatea in Mangere and we are shortly going to be setting up in other areas of South Auckland.

All we need is a classroom, whiteboard and students! We'll turn up with toolkits, instructions, lesson plans and a tutor and we'll leave your school with thriving and excited children who will all want more!

Young Engineers is part of a great holiday programme called 'Squiggle' that is run in Hamilton. Young Engineers is one of the popular activities during Squiggle and both boys and girls enjoy participating in.
